Stuff I can guarantee:
- Nicer, more stable UI
- Complete saving system
- Better, more meaningfull inventory system
- More logical payday method
- Skills system (strength, agility, marksmanship, etc...)
- More stable base SWEP
- Screen effects
- Weathermod!
- Gradual increase in speed when running
- Quests system
- Crafting system
- Player economy with the return of companies, banks, and a new auction system
- NPCs to run some shops, give quests, make maps like Evo look decently populated
- Datastream-based letter system (so we can have unlimited # of characters in letters)
- A LOT of bug fixes...
Hopefully I can get a head start on this soon. Let me know what you think. I'll be trying to make this a bit more like an RPG, with quests and such. Maybe even some kind of "legacy" questline? Who knows. All ideas, suggestions, and feedback is greatly appreciated. Also, please let me know what bugs you remember from before--one I really do remember is the gun spewing, which I think I fixed but I'm not sure. My goal is to bring a much more balanced and stable experience, as well as give players something to do while there isn't much RP. I'd also like to make RP more meaningful--jobs are no longer just mindlessly thrashing stuff around with the gravgun in an attempt to appear as if you're doing something. With the crafting system and player economy, that'll be solved. With the stats system, you'll always have something to work up to. With the quests system, you'll always have something to do when you're not RPing or crafting--or you can RP while you quest in a group.
I'm also having thoughts about a kind of instancing system for houses, that way houses save. Basically it would be a door to the apartment building or whatever, and when you press E on it a list of people who live there would come up. Choose one, then you'll be allowed to open the door and go in. The way it would work is by making all players and objects invisible and noncollidable--clientside. In theory it would work, however physics is serverside, so maybe we'd have to make all players noncollidable? No, that wouldn't work. And what about objects? And guns and explosions? Probably not feasable, but it's something to think about. Maybe something under or over the map if we can figure out some way to make brushes in Lua or make physics props invisible clientside to anyone not in the instance, respectively. Lemme know what you think.
...And so the coding begins.
